Hey, good morning! Rich here with Summit Life Group. Today, I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart: investing—specifically, the best investment you can make.
I’ve been passionate about investing since I was 12 years old, thanks to my granddad. I remember him taking me to a brokerage house to buy my first shares of stock. Back then, you had to go in person to buy stocks. I took my birthday money, opened an account, and bought my first shares in Hewlett-Packard. I was nervous, surrounded by adults in suits, but that first investment ignited a lifelong interest in the stock market.
Over the years, my granddad would show me his investments, companies he bought 10, 20 years earlier, and I saw how they grew over time. I quickly realized that investing in companies made sense, and it’s something I’ve been passionate about ever since.
The Best Investment:
If you’re not already investing in companies, you should be. That’s what a 401(k) or IRA allows you to do—participate in the growth of the economy. But here’s the thing: if you’re an entrepreneur or a business owner, the best company to invest in is you, Inc. Let me explain.
Yes, you can invest in big companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, or Tesla. And you’ve seen the success stories—putting in X amount and watching it grow over time. That’s great, and we should all be part of the economic growth by investing in companies. But here’s the kicker: when you invest in yourself and your own business, the potential for a return is far quicker and greater than waiting for public stocks to double over years.
Example:
Let’s say a young person wants to start a pressure washing business. They buy a pressure washer for a couple of hundred dollars. How fast can they turn that $200 into $400? One job, maybe two, right? That’s a 2x return in no time. Or, say someone wants to start painting houses—they invest in basic supplies and get one job. Boom! They’ve doubled their investment right away.
Now, those are simple examples, but the principle applies to all businesses. As you grow, maybe you invest $1,000 into marketing, and that generates $2,000 back. This is why many successful people reinvest heavily into their own businesses—because they understand the quicker and often larger returns they can get compared to traditional stock market investments.
Grow Your Business:
As an entrepreneur or small business owner, investing in your business—whether it’s through marketing, systems, or education—offers incredible returns. Wealthy individuals often have most of their wealth tied up in their businesses because they understand their industry and know how to grow it. The more they invest, the more their business grows, and ultimately, their wealth.
So, I challenge you: if you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, or insurance agent, understand that the best company to invest in is you, Inc. Even if you’re just starting, even if it’s small, invest in yourself. Whether that’s through education, marketing, or resources—whatever it takes to grow your business.
A Word of Caution:
Now, here’s the challenge. The biggest obstacle to investing in your business is often your personal lifestyle. It’s tempting to take all the profits out to fund your lifestyle. But if you reinvest that money back into the business, you’ll continue to double and grow. That’s what successful entrepreneurs do. They don’t take everything out immediately—they keep feeding their business so it can scale and grow faster.
So, if you’re looking for a great investment, invest in you, Inc. Keep growing, keep believing in yourself, and reinvest into your business to see the returns you deserve.
